Burma Army attack innocent villagers in Northern Karen State

We have just recieved news that the Burma Army attacked innocent villagers in Papun (Muthraw) District in Northern Karen State over the past week. Our friends in Karen State have let us know that the troops have left the area but not before burning down most of the houses (over 600 people have had their houses destroyed), the church and schools as well.

A couple of houses were left alone – these seem to be the smaller houses. There are now more than 1,000 people in hiding in this area.

We have ordered medicine and shelter supplies which will be delivered shortly and will organise other essential supplies as needs become known.

Also, in Dooplaya District an additional 600 people (mainly women and children) have fled across the border into Thailand on Sunday 25th July after a build up of Burma Army troops in that area. These displaced families are taking shelter at local schools. We are monitoring this situation closely and are awaiting an assessment from local leaders.

You can give today to join us in our relief efforts for these displaced people and others like them by clicking here

Please also continue to uphold these beautiful people in prayer as they are displaced once again.

Thank you,

Partners Relief & Development
