Shanna the Volunteer – Week 4

Shanna Kelly shares about on her fourth week volunteering with Partners Relief & Development in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.

“English class continues onward. Building on new vocabulary from this week and last, students are learning how to both give and take directions and follow a map. The students who attend seem to be more consistent than weeks prior and there continues to be around 7 students each class, which is a great class size in my opinion!  (more…)

What hope do you see for your family?
 Not long ago my friend constructed a small wood home in the camp where 5,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) in Shan State, Burma call home.  With tears in his wife’s eyes, she told me they must tear it down. They have been told that they must move.

Shanna the Volunteer – Week 3

Shanna Kelly from Canada shares about her third week as a short term volunteer with Partners Relief & Development in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand:

Life in the office continues as usual. I continue to work on lesson plans, making sure I have an idea of the direction the lessons will take as the student’s progress. At the same time, I strive to incorporate useful material that students will be able to learn and use in their everyday situations. (more…)
