Learning to Live and Living to Learn
Bad News: For more than 28 years the Shan village in this story (which cannot be named for security reasons) has had no schooling above Year Four, and only 3 people from the 6 villages in the area have graduated from high school over that time.
Good News: In January, Stu Corlett and Partners Shan team (along with two other foundations) ran a training called ‘Learn to Live’ for community leaders from Shan State, on how to start schools in their villages, and how to teach creatively. (more…)

The New Zealand Government heard all about Burma and Partners today!
Partners Relief & Development and the plight of the people of Burma took centre stage in New Zealand Government today. This morning Ruth Corlett (National Director of Partners New Zealand) made a presentation to the New Zealand Government Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence as the committee had invited her to come and speak.
